This commitee is a consultative body which advises the pastor on all matters concerning the financial health and planning for the parish. They perform the following tasks:
The mission of the Grounds & Maintenance Committee is to provide long-range planning and goal setting for St. Margaret Mary properties. Additionally they are responsible for overseeing maintenance of the building and grounds.
The Parish Pastoral Council is made up of eight members elected by the parish. Their duties include overseeing strategic planning and goal setting, evaluating needs of the parish, and approving the annual budget submitted by the Finance Committee. The council works closely with the Pastor and the Parish Staff to consider matters of pastoral need.
This group of parishioners organizes the parish's annual April fundraiser held at the Country Club of Terre Haute. This is the largest parish fundraiser, a commmunity wide event, and a vital piece to our overall operating budget. In conjuction with the annual raffle, there is also a silent auction of donated items from the community.
The following are the additional ministries that are affliated but not solely operated through us.
Catholic Charities provides a variety of assistance and programs to those in need in the Terre Haute area. This organization is a member agency of the United Way of the Wabash Valley.
This ministry broadcasts Catholic Evangelisitc programs, including four daily call-in shows so listeners can ask questions and get straight answers about the faith. This effort helps spread the faith, explain Catholic doctrine, helps converts on their way to becoming Catholics and attracts possible converts. The station by Covenant Networks in St. Lousis and broadcasts wihtin a 15 mile radius of Terre Haute.
Knights of Columbus are a Catholic, family, fraternal, service organization. Our ministry conducts activities that support family, commmunity, the pro-life effort, youth, church, and the council of Knights. Local actities include fish fries, Youth free throw contests at Ryves Youth Center and Gibault, Special Olympics, Thanksgiving good basket collectioin, St. Patricks Day parade, Christmas party, fundraising for local Catholi Churches, and many more. Membership is open to Catholic Men aged 18 or older in good standing with the church. Meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Mondays at 730PM and anual dues are $40.00.
This ministry provides religious education for the developmentally disabled. There are currently seven individuals who volunteer two hours per month as teachers, and work closely with the DRE of each parish. The 13 parishes in the deanery provide financial support. This year the ministry has the goal of improving publicity so those in need will benefit.
This ministry is a social one, which has informal gatherings held on the third Thursday of the month and usually begin with Mass at 11:00 am followed by a predetermined activity.
This group makes blankets and lap robes for infants, soldiers, and others in need of warmth and prayers.
These parishioners minister to those members of our parish community who are homebound, in hospitals or assisted living facilities who cannot worship with us on a regular basis due to advanced age or illness.
A ministry in which lay parishioners are trained to be present to listen to those who are experiencing grief or a life crisis. Stephen Ministers offer prayer, support, and a comforting presence in order to lessen suffering. No one should suffer alone.
Altar Servers (5th grade and older) minister through serving at Mass. They provide an example of service, devotion, and humility. They assist the priest and other ministers at the altar.
This group of volunteers uses their artistic talents to fashion floral, banner, and other decorations to enhance the interior of the church for the liturgical seasons. In this way, they help to focus our thoughts on the mystery of God’s love and redemption of us all.
The choir and instrumentalist ministry is open to parish members in high school and older.
Eucharistic ministers assist the priest in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass and, in the absence of a priest, at Services of Holy Communion. Training sessions are required to participate in this ministry.
Lectors are men and women who minister to the parish during the Masses in the readings of Scripture. They are needed for weekend and Holy Day Masses.
Individuals are needed to minister before and after the Mass by preparing all that is needed for the Mass and other celebrations.
Greeters are men and women who greet parishioners and guests at each weekend and Holy Day Mass to help make them feel welcomed. They provide bulletins, assist with seating, answer questions, count attendance throughout the year, gather the offertory collection, recruit parishioners to take up offertory gifts during Mass and help straighten up the church after Mass.
The Brown Bag Project provides sack lunches to the 80 residents of Garfield Towers and Warren Village twice each week. Our parishioners provide monthly financial support to the project. Two months of each year the parishioners collect soup for the program. Volunteers are always need.
